This session will highlight how advisors can help their employer clients use nonqualified plans in the modern era. Nonqualified plans can help fix the problems high-income earners face from restrictions in their 401(k) plans, help reward key employee performance, and act as a recruiting and retention tool. We will explore popular plan designs and how companies finance these plans. We will help advisors identify key characteristics to target where nonqualified plans can be a good fit for their clients.
Attendees will learn:
- Why and how employers are using nonqualified plans in today’s competitive environment
- About nonqualified plan designs that help highly compensated employees defer more compensation pretax over and above qualified plan limits
- About nonqualified plan designs that help employers recruit, reward, and retain high-performing employees
- A strategic overview of the two most common financing techniques: taxable mutual funds and corporate-owned life insurance
