Program Overview

Do you know what your clients with family-owned businesses need...or want? So often, family business owners spend all their time, profits, and energy building the business, but have not considered their own exit plans, retirement, or worst case scenarios. And sometimes their needs are more complex than those of other business owners. An advisor who can bring this insight and expertise to clients with family-owned businesses adds tremendous value to the relationship. Discover the unique challenges of family businesses through a case study. We will discuss the role of business valuation, and the importance of succession strategies, retirement income and legacy and estate planning to family business owners.

Attendees will learn:

  • What to expect from an informal business valuation;
  • What the unique challenges of succession planning are for owners of family businesses;
  • What tools are available to help the business owner plan for his or her retirement;
  • How estate equalization solutions can help ease the transition challenges of business owners with children outside the business.
